What we verified
We checked the official site and reputable press. We did not run a paid multi-week field test of intro quality for this review. Public user diaries are almost nonexistent, so launch claims stay labeled as claims.
Justin McLeod, the Hinge founder, left Hinge in December 2025. Overtone pitches a voice-led introduction service, not a swipe app: no profile grid, intros "worth making." A $18M round was announced in July 2026 (FirstMark, Pace, Match Group). Spencer Rascoff and Esther Perel have been linked to the project in press. The official site is a waitlist, with a launch later in 2026 in select locations. As of late August 2026 it was not a widely usable consumer app. The constraint is access and cities, not another feed.
